At 40 you did be happy if you could save a part of your salary.
A realist transforms into a diplomat .. Then becomes indifferent .. Then becomes an epitome of selfishness. The issues which thwarted and killed him at 20 are juicy topics of discussions at tea table , during moring walks and short air trips. The discussion is about strategies and intelligence with absolutely no emotions attached.
I am angered by this attentuation of insticts especially those related to the country and the policies of the government. And I wonder if I did become indifferent soon. And if I did be satisfied with a handsome pay check and a luxury car 20 years hence.
Ever since childhood I had a strong patriotic feeling . I was taught at 7 that India was a superb country . It had many rivers flowing .. Great mountains at the north and surrounded by 3 oceans in other directions.. .. India has a brilliant democracy .. And the country has 15 languages .. And diverse variery of cultures ..
I was a fool to believe it all ... And probably a fool to continue to believe the same ... You see still an idealist ..But slowly coming in terms with the reality.. That it is a crazy country .. With some crazy politicians ruling it .. Especially by people who dont give a damn to the country or the democracy or the people.... People mocking idealists like me ...
As if to betray me .. To hurt me and humliate me .. To make me understand .. To yell " Hey Grow Up"
- The Lok Paritran Party in the city split .. Reasons being Caste and Monetary misunderstanding . The so called young politicians trying to woo the upper middle class Chennai Split.. And Then reactions are " hey Cmon they are also politicians ... Thts how it is ... Cos even that involves money " .. Thank U guys .. I am still an idealist .. But still trying hard to become a realist.
- The Reservation issue .... I really dont know which side to take .. Dont know who is correct ..But I am supremely confident that the efforts of all the politicians is not with a inherent good intention . When it comes to issues like this idividualism loses .. Hail pluralism ... Concentrate on the vote banks .. Lets forget the genuine , smart deserving system ... Lets forget the rural deserving students requiring upliftments ....Lets order more seats in Colleges as if we are ordering a birthday cake ... Lets make some complex useless strategy which never gets implemented and no one gets benifited .....
- We will play dirty politics .. Your job is to sit back and enjoy it like a prime time tamil soap ....Cmon soo much free entertainment...
I still have hopes .. Hopes to make a difference in a little possible way some where ..." We shall overcome same day ...." .. When the gap between the idealist and realist will be bridged...

oh shit!
Lok Parithran split????!!!!
reg reservation,
the matter is actually complex....i dont think simple solutions r there..why dont u urself try designing a system which strikes a balance between equity and efficiency? do it seriously....considering all possible lacunae
there has to be changes..may be reservations, but how it shd be implemented needs to be seriously debated.
Meaningful thought which runs in the minds of all literate Indians, unfortunately there is no one to make it materialize
If you understand Tamil visit my blog...I have a solution.... :-)
an Idealist at 20 will bcum a realist at 40.. thats a universal fact.. one must show more composure in figuring out how we define idealism and realism at different stages in life, rather than showing dissent and sarcasm towards the realism we see in the thoughts of those in their 40's now
and about Paritran and indian ploitics, please understand this is not Shankar's movie where youth can achieve anything they want, u cant have a 'Mudhalvan' ruling, and a complete success story like the ones in 'Boys'.. remember, Jan Sangh, it took them 40+ years after their start, seeing a split soon and one of the daughter parties(BJP), taking over the country in 1996.. it too started like Paritran and will take time to see proper establishment.
In the history no revolution had lasted as a stable solution, French rev needed Bonaparte's brief dictatorship to come back to Democracy, and Americans needed a civil war to establish Lincoln's Democracy.. now India need a transformation and it will take its time..
so better stay as how you where taught to be, in ur 7th std.. We are going to live in a Great India
true true. to think i used to believe the textbook when they said that the caste system has been abloished in india.. :-(
And man !! LP splitting was very sad. Very unfair to the 30,000 odd people across chennai who had voted for them thinkin they are a party with a diff..
reminds of this saying (?!) which comes in many a hindi movie
Agar Kichad ko Saaf Karna hai to Kichad ke andar Jaana hi Padega.
( to clean the drainage u have to go inside it )
To clean the system u must enter it , in the process u will get soiled initially but ur aim should be to first clean urself, then the others , finally the system itself and not to adjust with the dirt like the thousands of others already in it.
q: where and when will this happen ??
ans : utopia :-(
Please follow the life of Lord Krishna in the Mahabharatha ....
If you look from a purely objective angle, Krishna was the equivalent of Shakuni in Pandavas camp ..... But there was one fundamental difference ... Krishna was an ideal mix of realist and idealist ... a crafty politician ....
There are many many lessons to be learnt from the way he dealt with simple issues of life ....
But one thing i fully agree with Anu that better to go into system and reform it rather than sit outside and crib .....
