Who is the "indian"of the year ???

Dates and days probably do not have any absolute significance.Maybe an enumeration of "time".
Like how the stone age guy would count his goats with pebbles .. In a refined fashion we count our time with dates. And thus we keep track of passage of time in terms of earth's revolution around the sun which is dependent on some cosmic distances... blah ..blah...

And Voila..We have a new year every 12 months. What is so new about the new year.. For many the new year is never quite a "new" year. Most most school kids its not the beginning of a new academic session.. Dec is not the "year" end for many offices... But somehow " new year" fills some like me with a plethora of energy and a newer bunch of resolutions...Some lil personal joys..

But something has been irking me for the past couple of years.Come December all channels esp the 24 7 news channels ask people of the country to vote a "person" of the year..I hate this rating business because
  • It is boring
  • It hurts my ego
C'mon.. Why should some random filmi star or sports star become the "person" of the year. Still worse some damsels get nominated every year. And what have they done... Acted in some cliched movies wearing beautiful clothes( and sometimes no clothes). And there are some dormant cricketers ... And some crazy politicians...It is boring.

Sometimes times are good.We are successful and happy in our own way. Life is frustrating and agonizing once in a while. We look back and say "good" year .. or we pray "Oh God.. Let things get better".Even for the sake of masala or entertainment( which anyway it is not) I dont want to see anyone rated as "Indian" of the year.. It hurts my ego.Lets keep things simple.

The concept is not bad, for want of role models for the youth in this country...
Everyone cannot be a role model nor can 1 person be the idol for the entire nation of 1(n no of 0s).
But people who are groping for some idolization( cos in India, v luv idolizing)
But as u say, the implementation is bad... skimpily clad femmes are in no way related to "role". Mayb they do modeling!
Some ppl dont need a role model... u r 1 of them... so switch of the tv and go to sleep...

The ideology of voting for the Best Person of the Year is not tat vague I feel, bcoz it cud be a source of motivation n inspiration for many ppl following the same lines be it in different sectors/fields.

Who knows, even u cud be one of the "Best Indian" in the coming years.I'm not kidding!!
